Two physicians elected to serve as Iowa delegates to theAmerican Medical Association for 2026 term DES MOINES, IA – Two physician members from the Iowa Medical Society (IMS) were recently elected to serve as delegates to the American Medical Association (AMA). They are: Tyler Olson, MD – The Iowa Clinic, Des Moines Sharmini Rasakulasuriar, MD – Fort Dodge “We are grateful to have Drs. Olson and Rasakulasuriar represent IMS, and Iowa physician members at the national level with AMA,” said Alison Lynch, MD, President of IMS. “Their new perspectives and commitment to the practice of medicine will be instrumental in advancing our mission – to be the leading voice of medicine.” The AMA House of Delegates (HOD) is the legislative and policy-making body of the AMA. State medical associations and national medical specialty societies are represented in the HOD along with AMA sections, national societies such as the American Medical Women’s Association, the American Osteopathic Association, and the National Medical Association, professional interest medical associations, and federal services, including the Public Health Service. About IMS Celebrating 175 years, the Iowa Medical Society was established in 1850 and is the largest and oldest statewide professional association for current and future physicians, representing more than 6,000 members.
