Advocacy

The Iowa Medical Society is on the frontlines fighting for physicians at the Capitol during the legislative session and meeting with legislators during the interim. Together in 2023, we were able to enact historic medical malpractice legislation with the passage of Tort Reform. The physician voice is a powerful voice. The more physicians we have speaking to legislators, the more successful we will be for our members, and even more importantly, their patients.

2024 IMS State Legislative Priorities

The IMS Committee on Legislation met Sept. 1 to develop recommendations for the Board of Directors for the initial 2024 IMS Legislative Priorities.

These initial priorities were approved by the Board on Sept.15, and seek to build upon our 2023 legislative success. Final action will be taken on these priorities at the December board meeting.
