Iowa Medical Society Announces Two Leadership Additions

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Iowa Medical Society (IMS) is pleased to announce two leadership additions to kick off 2026, strengthening the organization’s communications, policy, and advocacy efforts on behalf of Iowa physicians and the patients they serve.

Josie Sylte has been named director of communications and marketing, and Charlie Murphy, JD, has joined IMS as a policy analyst.

Sylte brings more than 20 years of experience in strategic communications and marketing across health care, financial services, and professional associations. As director of communications and marketing, she leads IMS branding and member engagement efforts and serves as executive editor of Iowa Medicine magazine.

“Josie brings a deep understanding of strategic marketing, brand development, and member-focused communications,” said IMS CEO Steve Churchill. “Her leadership will help ensure IMS continues to be recognized as the trusted voice and thought leader for physicians throughout Iowa.”

Murphy brings a strong background in policy analysis and legal research. In his role, he supports IMS advocacy efforts by analyzing legislation, monitoring policy trends, and providing research and insights to help inform physician-led policy positions at the state and federal levels. He begins his role as the 2026 Iowa legislative session gets underway, a critical time for advancing IMS priorities at the Statehouse. IMS 2026 Legislative Priorities are available at www.iowamedical.org/advocacy.

“Charlie’s legal training and policy expertise will be a valuable asset as IMS continues to advocate for sound health care policy and a strong practice environment for physicians across Iowa,” Churchill said.

These leadership additions reflect IMS’ continued investment in advocacy, communications, and organizational excellence as it enters 2026. Bios for the two leadership additions can be found at: https://www.iowamedical.org/staff/
