MACRA Quality Payment Program Resources

The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) ended Medicare’s flawed Sustainable Growth Rate formula, which for 13 years threatened physicians participating in Medicare with potential payment cuts of more than 20 percent. MACRA’s Quality Payment Program – designed to shift physician payment from the traditional fee-for-service, volume-based system to one based on quality and value – has two payment tracks to choose from: Advanced Alternative Payment Models (APMs) or the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS).
