IMS Nominating Committee
Seeks Candidates for Board, AMA Delegation

The IMS Nominating Committee is seeking candidates for election to the following positions:

IMS Board of Directors (term starts April 28, 2018)

  • At-Large Director: 4 positions to be elected for 3-year terms
  • Resident Director: 1 position to be elected for a 1-year term
  • Medical Student Director: 1 position to be elected for a 1-year term

AMA Delegation (term starts January 1, 2019)

  • AMA Delegate: 2 positions to be elected for a 2-year term

Interested members should first ensure they are able to attend the respective meetings. The IMS Board of Directors meets five (5) times per year. Members of the Board also serve as the Policy Forum, which meets twice per year immediately following adjournment of a board meeting. The Policy Forum is the policy setting body for the IMS. The schedule for the next program year is:

  • April 27-28, 2018– IMS Annual Conference, Board Meeting & Policy Forum, Des Moines
  • July 13-15, 2018 – Board of Directors retreat, location TBD
  • September 21, 2018 – Iowa City (10:00 am – noon; Policy Forum noon – 3:30 pm)
  • December 13, 2018 – Des Moines (10:00 am – 3:00 pm)
  • February 2019 – Des Moines (12:00 pm – 3:30 pm)
  • April 2019 – IMS Annual Conference, location TBA

For physicians interested in serving as an AMA Delegate, the American Medical Association House of Delegates meets two times per year. The scheduled dates for the two years in the term being elected are:

  • June 8–12, 2019 - Chicago, IL
  • Nov. 16–19, 2019 - San Diego, CA
  • June 6-10, 2020 - Chicago, IL
  • Nov. 14-17, 2019 - San Diego, CA
