Lenard Kerr, DO

Following the IMS Annual Conference in April, the IMS Board of Directors appointed Lenard Kerr, DO, Emergency Medicine, Ankeny as an at-large director, completing the term vacated by IMS President Michael Romano, MD. Dr. Kerr was one of six candidates on this year’s ballot to run for the four at-large director position available for election. Recently staff asked Dr. Kerr to answer a few questions about himself.


What drew you to want to serve on the IMS Board of Directors?

I want to give back to Iowa medicine what it has given to me from undergraduate through my 18 years of practice.

Why did you study/train/practice in Iowa?
Because I grew up in Iowa and was committed to staying here.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of medicine?
Mountain biking, travel, camping, wood and automotive work, and gardening. I’m also a big fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Red Wings..
