Date of Publication (December 3, 2014)

The Iowa Board of Medicine (IBM) has announced that an updated edition of the book “Responsible Opioid Prescribing: A Clinician’s Guide” is now available. Since 2011, the Board has distributed more than 3,000 copies of this book free of charge to Iowa licensed physicians. The 2014 edition is accredited for up to 7.25 hours of CME through October 1, 2016, through the University of Nebraska Medical Center and meets the IBM’s mandatory chronic pain management CME requirement for physicians providing primary care.

IMS offers additional online courses that also meet the IBM mandatory CME requirements for chronic pain management as well as end-of-life care. The 2015 IMS Annual Conference, IMS 2015: Lead. Succeed. Thrive, scheduled to be held in Cedar Rapids on May 2-3, will include two hours of chronic pain management training. Information regarding the IMS Annual Conference will be available in the coming weeks.
