Physician Day on the Hill a rousing success!

An energetic group of over 90 Iowa physicians and medical students gathered at the Capitol on February 1 to talk with lawmakers about key issues affecting physicians and their patients. This was the first grassroots event of its kind that IMS has organized with other specialty and medical societies in years, and judging from the comments made by participants, it's likely we'll work to organize another event next year. After meeting for a quick boxed lunch and briefing at the Iowa State Bar Association, physicians boarded a shuttle that took them up the hill to the Capitol where they gathered on the second floor. Each physician was given a packet of talking points that covered medicine's position on key issues. Look for more coverage of Physician Day on the Hill in the January/February issue of Iowa Medicine!
