Updated adult immunization schedule

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) reviews the recommended Adult Immunization Schedule annually to ensure the schedule reflects current recommendations for licensed vaccines.

In June 2007, ACIP approved the Adult Immunization Schedule for October 2007-September 2008.

Changes include:

• Varicella vaccine is now recommended for all adults without evidence of immunity to varicella.
• Zoster vaccine has been added and is recommended for people aged 60 years or older
• Contraindications have been modified for many vaccines
