IMS Committees for 2009-2010
A key part of the policy-making process at IMS is the work of committees. Standing committees such as the Committee on Legislation or the Committee on Public Health meet regularly to deliberate and make recommendations on IMS policy. Serving on an ad hoc committee is a short-term commitment since members are appointed to make recommendations on one specific issue. If you are an IMS member and are interested in serving on a committee, contact the IMS staff person assigned to that committee. Gender is an important diversity consideration for nomination to committees.

The Program Committee is charged with assembling a candidate slate which represents the diversity of IMS membership with regard to geography, expertise, specialty, years in practice and experience. This ensures that physician leaders represent the variety of experience which is vital to quality decision-making. The Nominating Committee includes the immediate past president, one physician appointed by the president and three physicians elected by the House of Delegates.
