IMS Board of Directors

A 19-member Board of Directors is comprised of three officers (president, president-elect and immediate past president), six district directors, six at-large directors and a resident director and a medical student director. The board meets five times each year to implement House of Delegates policy, accept and act on policy resolutions and interact with internal and external stakeholders. District directors are elected from each of six districts.

AMA Delegation

The Iowa Medical Society is represented at the national level by an active delegation to the American Medical Association House of Delegates. Iowa's delegates participate in the national policy-making process at AMA House of Delegates meetings and keep their colleagues informed about developments at the national level of organized medicine. The IMS also has delegates in the AMA Young Physicians' Section and the AMA Medical Student Section, which meet in conjunction with the AMA House of Delegates.
