West Des Moines, Iowa - The Iowa HIT Initiative announced it's 4th Annual Summit on Health Information Technology will be held Thursday, August 28, at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Des Moines.
This year's Summit will highlight the value of using HIT solutions to improve health care. Discussion topics will include how technology can contribute to improved quality of care and information exchange between providers.
HIT can help health care professionals prevent illness, decrease harm and reduce waste. This one-day program gives you both an update on HIT in Iowa and an opportunity to share successes and challenges with your peers.
The morning's featured speakers include Laura Adams from the Rhode Island Quality Institute, who is nationally recognized for her HIT expertise and dynamic style. A panel of HIT leaders in Iowa will share current initiatives and the importance of health information exchange. Panel speakers will include Lee Carmen, University of Iowa, Jim Mormann, Iowa Health System, Art Spies, Iowa Hospital Association and Cristina Thomas, Mercy Health Network/Catholic Health Initiative.
Participants will be able to select from a variety of afternoon sessions. Hospital, nursing home, home health and physician office information and experiences surrounding the selection, use and adoption of health information technology will be offered. After July 1, view the conference brochure at www.internetifmc.com for details.
In addition the Summit will feature Iowa health care providers who have successfully implemented health information technology solutions, as well as an electronic health record and telehealth vendor exhibition/demonstration area.
